bus route guide

Just discovered these new bus route guides. They are very easy to read and show the hours of operation by days of the week. They can be found at the Turista Info office on Park Calderon. You have to ask for it, I did not see any out in plain view.

By the way, the guide is free. Better hurry as you never know how long it will take to get more when they are gone.

See you on the bus................J&D

Izhcayluma.wmv

Here is a peak of the Hosteria Izhcayluma. I recommend staying here when you visit.

Check out http://www.izhcayluma.com/ for info.

Oz (aka Vilcabamba)

Here is the hamlet of Vilcabamba as seen from the hosteria Izhcayluma perched above it.

Sunset over Mt. Mandango.
The center square of Vilcabamba.

Here is Charlie. He ownes this place just off the square. Decent burger and good pizza. Really good fries and homemade mayo dip.

Morning over the valley.

View on the hill looking back a the hosteria's resturant and the mountain.

Mount Mandango.

Another dawn.

The terrain features here are really quite something to see. Vilcabamba is a cool place to visit. I am really glad we chose Cuenca as our home. It was only a 4 hour drive from Cuenca, that includes a stop for lunch in Loja on the way.
The Izhcayluma is a nice place with commanding views of the valley. We will be going back.
These pictures do no justice to real life but give you a sense of the area. Poco Poco.
Until next time........J&D

off to see the wizard

We are headed to Vilcabamba and the Hosteria Izhcayluma with Larry and Linda. This is our first big road trip and we are excited. I think I will need to go again as a passenger so I can look around on the drive down and back. You must pay close attention while driving here.
